Our OEM+ CarPlay integrates beautifully into the OEM hardware allowing you to use the original screen, including the original system Menus showing car information, vehicle data etc. The device does not replace any of the existing hardware, and allows you to easily view the original BMW Menu at the press of a button making it a complete OEM+ Solution.
Once installed the unit provides wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Screen Mirroring as well as a USB which allows you to attach an external hard drive or USB memory devices (Movies, TV Shows, Music etc). Reverse camera is also an extra feature available, with this upgrade. Wireless mirroring also available.
The feature will work off the TV Tuner, but will use the Auxiliary input/mode, for the best possible sound. Cars after 2003 will normally have the Auxiliary feature, but pre 2003 and Range Rovers, will require a firmware upgrade to enable this feature. Please see the BM54 section for more details.
It can still work for cars with the older Radios, such as BM24s and very old BM54 units which are not compatible for Auxiliary input. You must specify, which version you would like, as the audio output will be specified for your spec.
The Apple CarPlay / Android Auto is controlled 3 ways:
– via an iDrive Controller
You can place the controller anywhere you want to, for easy navigation, just like later models of BMWs and other car manufacturers.
For the E46 models, we have designed a cup bracket, which fits nicely in to the cupholder. Will work on other models with cupholders, such as X5. (please see CarPlay / Android Auto Accessories for cost details)
– Voice Command (for example, “hey siri”)
– Touchscreen (please see CarPlay / Android Auto Accessories for cost details)
Video Example
Your original Monitor is modified to allow for touchscreen. An extension cable is also provided, which connects to the Monitor and TV Tuner.
Dead pixels on your monitor? Then we can also replace the TFT screen for a discounted price of £120, instead of £160. Have us change the old knackered pixelated screen with a brand new one and add touchscreen at the same time for Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.
Phone Call / Microphone
For phone calls, you can use our universal microphones which we provide in the package, or you can use your existing OEM microphone. We would need to modify the microphone to make it work with the Apple CarPlay /Android Auto. You can purchase a modified one from us, or send your microphone to be modified. You will also need to purchase the Bluetooth ULF adapter, which connects to your existing hands free unit. For older cars, like early e39, the cable is slightly different, so please contact us, so we can make you a custom connector.

Since the Apple CarPlay / Android Auto is installed inside the TV Tuners, we can now make it work with the original Digital TV tuners. Please send us your TV tuner to modify. You can send in your TV Tuner, if its analogue as well, and receive a discount of £30.

This is for upgrading your original analogue tuner by us, to digital freeview TV and Radio.
BMW vehicles with bumper aerials are not are not as good as later version. These are found in pre facelift BMWs and ALL convertibles. Additional slick aerials that we sell for an additional £30 for the pair, is perfect to get the great reception, as shown above.

This is an extra video input via RCA connections to add on to your Apple CarPlay / Android Auto system.
You can add on extra video inputs, like for example, we tried an Amazon Firestick with our system.
PLEASE NOTE, A USB IS PROVIDED WITH THE CARPLAY, IN WHICH YOU CAN POWER THE AMAZON FIRESTICK, HOWEVER IT ALSO REQUIRES A HDMI TO COMPOSITE CONVERTER, WHICH WILL REQUIRE ANOTHER USB POWER SOURCE. WE CAN DO THIS FOR YOU, PLEASE CONTACT US FOR INFORMATION.
