This is a short video showing the difference between cheap extension cables used by most companies for going aftermarket stereos in BMWs and Range Rovers 1998 – 2007.

A simple test with a multimeter attached connected to the back of the aftermarket stereo showing voltage lost during no music playing, to maximum volume, where you can see the cheap cable going as low as 10.45 volts. The reason being, is because the cables are not thick enough, and the Amp level is not high enough. Also, the speaker cables used in these looms, are very poor. Remember, the longer the cable, the worse the signal becomes. So at 5 meters, the sound quality and the performance of your stereo is going to be poor.
