Is My DSP Amplifier or My Radio Faulty?
Cars equipped with DSP sound systems are slightly complex. There are multiple faults that can happen with the sound, which can relate to either the DSP Amplifier or your Headunit, BM54, BM53 or BM24 Radios, which power up the DSP Amplifier.
Finding The Root Of The Problem
If you have lost sound from 1 side of your car, then most likely its the radio at fault. The radio sends signal from the speaker outputs, specifically the 2 front channels. Radios like BM54, BM53 and Business C53 (5 series), can have faulty channels. So if you lost the Front Right channel on the radio, then the whole DSP output will only play form the Left side, and no sound from the Right side.
If this is the case, then please go to our BM54 / BM53 Repair and Upgrade service.
DSP Amplifier Common Faults
If allĀ your sound has gone off, but you can still change radio stations, then please check on the main menu, whether the DSP option is still selectable, or it has greyed out or vanished completely. This will indicate the DSP Amplifier is faulty. Please send it into us for repairs.
If you cannot change radio stations, and/or the amber light has gone off by the volume control, then your Radio has stopped powering up. Check fuses first, and if they are ok, then please send in your radio for Repairs.
If there is distortion in one or more speakers, then this is also caused by the DSP amplifier. Please send it into us for repairs.
